Belted Kingfisher

Kingfishers are one of those birds that I have so rarely been able to get photo of, and even more rarely good photos. This female belted kingfisher (you can tell it is a female by the rusty band across her belly) was photographed at the Breakwater in Monterey, CA the same day I took the majority of the sea otter photos I’ve shared previously.

Nice shots! Love these birds, but they are ridiculously hard to photograph. You can never get close to them. My P1000 has been very useful when it comes to Kingfisher photography.
