Florida Scrub Jay

This week we’ll take a look at three different jays from across the country…

Today we’ll start with the Florida Scrub Jay – endemic to only Florida it is obviously a fairly uncommon bird. I managed to find a handful of them while hiking around Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, but since they were fairly skittish and stayed just out of good range and I was being eaten alive by dozens of mosquitoes any time I stopped for more than half a second, I took a few shots and kept moving.
